The UNIVERGE NEAX IPS-DML has been engineered for optimal performance in a pure converged IP network, whereas its complementary counterpart, the UNIVERGE NEAX 2000 IPS is designed primarily for a mixed (i.e., TDM and IP) network. Both products support numerous features and services not typically found in today’s IP-based Telephony systems.

The NEAX IPS-DMR is designed primarily for distributed IP networking but also supports traditional analog and digital trunks for connection to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN). The NEAX IPS-DMR supports up to 128 peer-to-peer IP stations and 40 TDM ports in a single modular chassis. Up to two chassis can be stacked providing maximum capacity of 80 TDM ports while still supporting as many as 128 peer-to-peer IP stations. With 3200 series R6.2 software, each host can accommodate up to 7 NEAX IPS-DMRs. In addition, up to 255 hosts can be networked via CCIS.

NEC NEAX 2000 IPS Phone System

While the UNIVERGE NEAX IPS-DML is designed primarily for IP networking, it also functions as a standalone telephony system supporting both IP and circuit-switched connectivity. The UNIVERGE IPS-DML supports traditional analog trunks and digital trunks for connection to the Public Switched Telephone Network. Peer-to-peer CCIS networking connects up to 255 NEC telephony devices such as UNIVERGE NEAX 2000 IPS, UNIVERGE NEAX IPS-DML and  UNIVERGE NEAX 2400 IPX systems.

The UNIVERGE NEAX IPS-DML supports up to 888 peer-to-peer IP ports and 56 legacy TDM ports in a single modular chassis. Up to eight chassis can be stacked providing maximum capacity of as many as 540 peer-to-peer IP ports while still supporting up to 440 TDM ports. The UNIVERGE NEAX IPS-DML comes equipped for 19” rack mounting.

UNIVERGE NEAX IPS-DML users have access to hundreds of service features that are used in building unique telephony applications, which enhance productivity, reduce operating costs and improve communications efficiency. The innovative modular hardware and software design allows efficient, effective growth within each module from its minimum to its maximum configuration. The UNIVERGE NEAX IPS-DML hardware and software are designed with modularity in mind. Together, these modular building blocks allow customers to initially buy what they need and add capacity and capabilities as the business demands, resulting in a greater degree of cost control for new installations and for upgrades to features, capacities and new software versions.

The UNIVERGE NEAX IPS-DML offers the full complement of NEAX features while utilizing less equipment and occupying less floor space. Additionally, NEC’s broad range of IP phone sets all have two-port switches for easy pass-through to the users PC, facilitating one-cable termination to the desktop. Furthermore, with NEC’s migration strategy, you can deploy IP Telephony today confident that NEC will provide a migration path to future technologies while protecting your investment.
