Zone Transceivers Features
Product Details Specifications

Access to the communications network by the Dterm® PSII user is gained through radio connection with one of several Zone Transceivers, (ZT®) installed on the premise. ZTs are placed in an overlapping fashion throughout the facility in order to provide continuous radio coverage.

Each Zone Transceiver provides for up to three simultaneous connections to Dterm PSII users. Following NEC's deployment guidelines, ZTs are placed in an overlapping pattern to provide coverage by at least 2 ZTs. Thus each area has a minimum of 6 radio channels. For areas requiring greater capacity, the interval between ZTs can be reduced to provide as many as 36 channels. As users communicating through a ZT move out of its' range and into an area covered by another ZT, the connection is automatically switched, (called a handover) to the new ZT.

With the proper placement of ZTs throughout the facility, users can move about the area while communicating, (or idle) and have their calls follow them.

The Zone Transceiver is a small, (approximately 5.4" x 6.3" x 1.6") inconspicuous device developed to blend into the typical office environment. The ZT is supplied with mounting hardware and can be installed on walls, from ceilings, infrastructure or in drop ceilings.

To accommodate the environmental demands of providing wireless coverage outdoors, we offer three outdoor box options: ZT Outdoor Box, ZT Outdoor Heated Box* & ZT Outdoor Fan Cooled Box*. These boxes are made from fiberglass-reinforced polyester and provide insulated protection for the Zone Transceiver. The standard box is for average outside temperatures from 10º to 106º Fahrenheit. For colder climates, we offer a box with a thermostat-controlled heater and for warm climates a fan-cooled model. The ZT Outdoor Heated Box and the ZT Outdoor Fan Cooled box require that commercial AC power be run to the box.

To facilitate installation, we also offer a Wall Mount Bracket and a Pole Mount Bracket.

New Zone Transceiver - ZT II-U

The physical unit connects using one pair of wire rather than two pair of wire. In addition, each ZT II-U can reach 3,000 feet using switch power from 24 AWG cable or over 10,000 feet from the KSU when adding an ACA-U.

Radio coverage provided by the ZT II-U uses overlapping Omni-directional spheres for an average range of 100 feet from the ZT II-U. The coverage area is dependent upon the operating environment.

Each ZT II-U supports three simultaneous calls and can be mounted on walls, drop ceilings or placed in optional weather resistant enclosures and mounted outside the building. Outdoors with unobstructed line-of-site has a range of up to 300 feet from the ZT II-U.
